About Us

About Us

Africa & Asia Venture, also known as AV, is a not-for-profit social enterprise specialising in meaningful volunteering programs in Africa and Asia. Established in 1993, over 5,500 volunteers from 30+ countries have since contributed more than 1,200 man-years of service to the communities in which we operate.

We offer a unique experience of group-based full-immersion programs in rural communities, where volunteers live with the locals the way the locals live and after which they have a period of independent travel time to go wherever they wish, all supported by our dedicated, 24/7, in-country management teams.

We have a second-to-none reputation for excellent management and care, with in-country representatives and each of our experienced staff have personal, in-depth, country knowledge.

Our vision

Our vision is to create volunteer opportunities for you to live and work in the developing world, to have an ‘experience for life’ and to promote global citizenship. Our expertise and knowledge will allow you to get the most from your experience whilst knowing you are in safe hands.

We pride ourselves in being a specialist volunteer organisation that really cares about each individual. You will become part of the AV team and, as so many past volunteers have told us: “Once an AV, always an AV!”

“Dan has found that having his experience as an AV on his resume has helped him tremendously with opening doors for him both during the rest of his college years and also as he successfully searched for his first job after graduating.

AV definitely was a life-changing experience for Dan.”

Mike Hartney

AV parent. His son, Dan, volunteered with AV in Tanzania.

“If you’re in any doubt about your next steps, whether it be a choice between work and College or simply you’re not sure which subject to study, a Gap Year would be the perfect option for you.

A mixture of part-time work and travel with purpose will leave you better placed to decide on your next step.”
