Uganda Venture - Africa and Asia Venture
Uganda is the hidden gem of East Africa, often overlooked in favour of its coast lined neighbours Tanzania and Kenya. It has so much to offer and was once described by Winston Churchill as "The Pearl of Africa"!
The beautiful natural environment of Uganda varies from dense tropical forests to deep river valleys, lakes and banana plantations. The green lushness of the region, combined with red okra-thatched village huts and the bustling towns give an extraordinary uniqueness to this part of Africa which has always extended a particularly friendly welcome to AV volunteers.
AVs gap year projects and volunteering opportunities in Uganda take place in rural communities around the area of Jinja, on the shores of Africa's largest lake - Lake Victoria, and close to the source of the mighty River Nile.
