Richard was born in Srinagar, Kashmir when his father was responsible for the South Wariristan (that's the bit that is now thought to house Bin Laden) Frontier Scouts.

Most of his life has been spent in the Army, mostly with the Gurkhas. As a result he has passion for all things Nepali and has friends in Nepal and Darjeeling. He speaks Nepali but he can't sing and his Nepali dancing is shocking! He joined AV in 1998 and is responsible for all AV matters in Asia. Although based in Devizes, he makes a point of going to harass AV's on their projects!
