Itinerary - Mexico-Adventure - Africa and Asia Venture
Itinerary
Arrival
You will fly in to Mexico City. You may book your own flight to arrive by 7.00pm or we can book for you. On arrival at the airport Adriana, our Mexico representative, will meet you. You then have a short coach trip into the heart of the city where you will spend the night at a backpackers hostel.
Briefing and Familiarisation
The following day you will see some of the sights of Mexico City and have an introductory briefing. Then on to the night bus to the attractive Veracruz region and Catemaco where, by the lakeside, you will have lunch and briefings on the Tuxtlas projects, as well as local culture and safety before moving to the village communities.
Community Project
For the next 3 weeks you will live and work in a rural village in one of Mexico's last remaining tropical rain forests, helping to renovate schools or work on other vital community projects, teach colloquial English, improve their eco facilities and learn some Spanish. Living amongst these special communities, who own their own villages and surrounding land, you will be helping to encourage their sustainable development. On one long weekend you will travel to Rio Pescados for a great rafting experience.
Mayan Culture, Colonial Heritage, and Waterfalls
Now for a change in pace and style. On your way to the Yucatan you will stay in and experience the colonial beauty of historic Oaxaca and San Christobel and their bustling markets, where you can eat tortillas and moele. Travelling further south, you will stop to relax and swim in the turquoise blue waters of Agua Azul and kayak in hidden lagoons. Then to the jewel of your trip, the awe inspiring Mayan site of Palenque, deep in the jungle where you will stay overnight - you won't want to leave!
Beaches, Snorkelling and Islands
Now it's time for snorkelling, chilling out, diving and swimming in the warm waters of the Caribbean. You will stay beside magical beaches and enjoy the white sands of Tulum and Isla Mujeres, experience clear blue seas, view some exotic marine life and more with trips, if you wish, to local island sanctuaries and the stunning Chinchen-Itza.
Mexico City
We will then fly you back to Mexico City from Cancun to give you a chance to enjoy a farewell evening and perhaps some Salsa dancing before a last morning in the markets and sight seeing. After that, it's off to the airport to catch your evening flight home. Viva Mexico - you will want to return!
