Life Academy - Africa and Asia Venture

Old AV Charles Coldman is taking part in a Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 initiative called Life Academy. It is a competition targeting 18-25 year olds who have ideas for helping the community, Gap Years & Volunteering Opportunities in Africa (Photograph: School Children in Jora)raising awareness of an issue or for making life better. There are three categories - Adventurer Explorer, Online Venture Explorer and Creativity Explorer - with a £10,000 grant going to the chosen winner in each category to help make their idea happen.

Charles was actually invited into the Microsoft PR office last month as one of three people to record a ‘model' pitch to give other entrants ideas of the kind of things they could pitch for but he has also submitted a recorded pitch (asking for the funds to help with the growth of African Promise so it can reach out to help many thousands more Kenyan school children) as part of the competition itself.

A final twelve (four from each category) will be chosen by the 15th June and they will then be invited to pitch their idea live to a panel of representatives from Microsoft Life Academy (including Prof. Robert Winston - the TV scientist) in the final week of June.

There is no public vote but visitors to the competition website can rate a video they like by giving it a ‘thumbs up' and a video with a large number of these might persuade the judges it is worthy of a African Promise Pitch by Charles Coldmanplace in the final twelve..!!

Charles' video pitch can be found at: http://www.lifeacademy.uk.com/entries/view/08443719cf54482fa8f4fc8695170185

Charles would be very grateful if all AVs and friends could give his pitch the ‘thumbs up' in the hope that he might reach the next stage of this opportunity to win some very valuable funding for African Promise.

Good Luck Charles - we've given you the thumbs up!
