Help for Dennis - Africa and Asia Venture
Becky Benton has literally just stepped off the plane from Africa only to continue helping her local community in Uganda, where she volunteered for 4 months at Busesa Primary School. During her time there with fellow AV Volunteer Hettie Reatchlous, they met a 7-year-old boy called Dennis who quickly became their friend.
As a baby Dennis had an injection, which caused him to lose the use of his right arm and leg. Since then he has learned to how to cope with the lack of mobility in his limbs but still has no muscle control. Becky and Hettie decided he needed their help and funded Dennis' doctors visits, who has provided him with a brace which will in the future help return his arm and leg to full strength!
Becky and Hettie are still in touch with Dennis and his family and they wait for the day when news arrives saying Dennis has made a full recovery.
The AV Volunteers really made the most of their time in Africa and took the time to get to know the community in which they were living. Uganda really touched their hearts and we hope they will return to Uganda to visit Dennis!
