Have you recently graduated and are looking for work experience or something to enhance your CV?  Not sure if you want to go somewhere in a group or with a friend...or on your own?

Perhaps you want to do something really worthwhile before launching yourself into the job market or it may be your last chance to try and do some sort of travelling before getting that high-profile, well-placed position with your nose in the trough!!

Your Options...

At AV we have enjoyed hosting graduates for many years. We offer you placements from three weeks to five months in Africa, Asia and Latin America.  Here are the options:

• Longer. Four to five months. Get some real hands-on work experience or teaching experience. Volunteering will help you gain some skills and give you the time to get to know the place & the people really well.

• Shorter. Three to five weeks. Much more than a holiday and long enough to give a real taste of the developing world.

Gap Ventures - 3-5 Month volunteering experience

Graduates Only!  August/September tends to see our biggest migration of graduates and our Lepchas scheme in northern India, starting in September, is set aside exclusively for you.

There are also plenty of other departure opportunities all over the world that may interest you in September, January and May. These are for both graduates and gap year students and are a real mix of 18-24 year-olds. We are always very careful how we place graduates on our volunteer projects and will try to match you with other graduates, wherever possible - there are 5000 old AVs who think we're pretty good at it!  Perhaps you would be happier to go with a friend or even to travel alone.  Call us to discuss the possibilities; we can usually turn your dreams into a plan.

You can opt to teach, coach sports or work on developing community/environmental/conservation projects, depending on where you go and when.

Group sizes vary from 15-30 but day-to-day volunteering is conducted in pairs or teams of about four, depending on the activities.

Extra-mural activities such as music, art, drama and sport are incredibly popular everywhere.

All projects include a three to four day orientation course, three or four months volunteering, three weeks of independent group travel and AV's amazing five day safari, which you will do with your whole group.

We can also extend your tickets if you wish to continue your travels at the end of the scheme - and we're always there to bail you out of trouble if you do!

Short Ventures - 3-5 Weeks Volunteer expereience

Didn't take a gap year? Want one now? Want to do something worthwhile but not for that long? During or after university?

How about three weeks volunteering and experiencing adventure activities on an AV Active in Kenya, or five Weeks in volunteering in Kenya, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Sri Lanka or Uganda on Projects and Adventures?

Our three week AV Active programmes in Kenya are perfect for those of you interested in either, Kite Surfing, Wind Surfing or Scuba Diving!

Kenya AV Active Volunteering

Our three and five week Short Venture volunteering programmes are for all-comers in the 18-25 year-old bracket. However, anyone can put together a group, and groups of four or more attract discounts. All Short Venture volunteer projects involve between one and three weeks of worthwhile volunteering in poor rural areas. Projects are followed by adventurous travel and safari opportunities.
