Gap Years & Volunteering in Nepal

Click to view videoMajestic icy peaks but a warmth of welcome that melts you instantly. Nepal has few natural resources other than its startling beauty and its people.

Gap Years & Volunteering Opportunities in NepalHuge mountains dominate tiny terraced fields, where 80% of the people grow not quite enough food to live on. In steep-sided valleys are some mighty rivers and fast-growing towns, which offer electricity, water, medicine and schools.

It is here that we and the AV Foundation work with a local NGO to support rural government schools and schools for the children of ex-Gurkha servicemen in western Nepal.

Gap Year Teaching in Nepal

Tourism is Nepal's main industry, and most tourists speak English so, for many Nepalese, English is necessary to get a job. On your volunteer placement you can help by teaching English in poor rural schools (some for blind or deaf children and some in orphanages) in western Nepal. Live with up to five other volunteers in a self-catering house, and walk to school each day. You will be well known in the town, a resident and friend rather than a passing tourist. Enjoy the openness of the Nepalese, make some of the best friends you will ever have and let your laughter echo round the mountains.

Quote - If Nepal doesn't bring a smile to your face you're a lost cause! Jack WittsAfter the teaching period, your safari will take you trekking amongst some of Nepal's most magnificent peaks.  Annapurna Base Camp offers some of the most compelling scenery in the world, whilst those who don't fancy a trek can visit one of Nepal's famous national parks.
