Itinerary

ARRIVAL

You and your group are asked to arrive in Nairobi before 9.00am on the day of departure from Nairobi.

Days 1-3 BRIEFING, ORIENTATION AND TRAVEL TO UGANDA

After arrival formalities you will move to Lake Naivasha for briefing and orientation. The lake is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife. On Day 3 you will cross the border to reach the Nile High Campsite at the Source of the River.

Days 4-23 COMMUNITY PROJECT

After settling in, you will spend 14 working days (nearly 3 working weeks) with a local charity in rural Ugandan villages, helping to build or renovate schools and medical facilities, or helping with farm projects and with education and sports. We will also arrange a full weekend, all-inclusive white-water-rafting rafting expedition on the River Nile, over some of the world's most exciting rapids, and a second weekend in a beautiful rural campsite next to the river.

Day 24 RETURN TO KENYA (LAKE NAKURU)

Your return to Kenya will take you to Kembo Campsite, near Lake Nakuru, to prepare for the first part of your wildlife safari.

Days 25 - 29 BUSH CAMP AND WILDLIFE SAFARI

A real African safari and an opportunity to see the ‘Big Five' and more wild animals and birds than you could ever imagine, in 2 of Africa's greatest wildlife reserves that also have some of its most stunning scenery. Two days in Lake Nakuru will be followed by 3 days in the Masai Mara or Samburu National Park.

Day 29 RETURN TO NAIROBI

Back to Nairobi, en route to the coast or to climb Mount Kenya - you choose! Those going to the coast will travel overnight on the ‘sleeper' train that still retains some of the old luxury service from bygone days.

Days 30 - 34 COAST ADVENTURE OR CLIMB MT KENYA

COAST: You can choose to spend this time on Kenya's famous coast, south of Mombasa, from where you will spend a day on a dhow in the Marine Park, watching dolphins and snorkelling the coral reefs, and a weekend back on Diani Beach, pretending you're a tourist! The rest of the time is yours to chill on the beach.

MT KENYA: Or you can choose to climb Mount Kenya, Africa's second highest

mountain. You will be accompanied and equipped by a team of professional guides and porters and need only worry about enjoying the amazing scenery and getting to the top!

Day 35 RETURN TO NAIROBI

Whether from the coast or from Mount Kenya, you will be returned to Nairobi to spend your last night at your campsite.

Day 36 RETURN TO UK

Your last day in Kenya will be spent in Nairobi. We'll provide transport and you can do whatever you like - shopping, visit the elephant orphanage and lunch at one of Nairobi's better restaurants. We'll take you to (and pay for) all these activities on your last day. The only thing you will have to pay for is the shopping! Finally, we will get you to the airport to catch your flight home.
