NEWS FLASH! The building project started on 15 April 2008! Tim visits the project in August.

This is Tim. Tim with Malawi children

He volunteered in Malawi with us in January of 2007. After 3 months living and working in Chikupira School, he returned home to the UK with an altered view of what mattered in life. He registered a charity called the Chikupila foundation to continue working with his school. This is what he has achieved in the past 8 months whilst in his1st year at Sheffield Uni.

"We have so far raised a total of about £15,000 for Chikupira, through various fund raising events:

Brentwood Prep School raised an amazing £9,500 doing a sponsored walk last summer that I organised.

A big sponsored slim from the treasurer of the charity raising over £1,000.

A small choral concert in Brentwood raising just over £1,000.

A hitch hike from Sheffield to Bognor Regis, raising in the region of £400.

Woodlands School Hutton Manor are giving us continued support and have so far raised in the region of £1,500 through a variety of fund raising events.

We have set up a potentially long-term link with Sheffield University RAG (Raise And Give), which will hopefully give continued support.

Many people are interested in child sponsorship, and w hope to get this up and running asap.

I am running the Sheffield half-marathon on 27th April in aid of Chikupira..... any people wanting to sponsor me are more than welcome :-)

Me and my dad are planning a crazy 72 mile walk/run over mountains in May 2009 (lots of training needed).

We hope to start sponsoring people to go out to Malawi, to do 'in-country' work, to keep the work at the school going.

We hope to send some specialist special needs teachers over to the school, where they could make a huge difference.

In Malawi:

5040 exercise books have been bought.

School team kits for both the football and netball teams have now arrived at the school.

Footballs, netballs and volleyballs have been bought.

In the process of getting permission from the Bishop with regard to building projects (3 new classrooms, and extended library, and a huge amount of classroom repairs).

I am going back with a couple of others in August in order to get things really moving in the right direction, and to see the most important things that must be done for the school.

I could go on forever, but thats most of the important stuff so far......"

Go Tim!!
