A little help from my friends - Africa and Asia Venture

In July 2009, eight AV volunteers headed to Uganda for their 5 week Short Venture and little did they know that their time in Africa would have such an impact on one young Ugandan.

Izzy Lever, along with the rest of the group, made a strong bond with 19 year old Conerius who helped them enormously with their community based project near Jinja. After losing his parents and his uncle, Conerius was struggling to continue with his education.

It looked as though his only option was to become an apprentice builder, but he still dreamed of going to University. Thanks to Izzy and the other AV volunteers he will fulfil his dreams of studying at Kampala Univeristy. The group have all agreed to make donations to fund Conerius through his Public Administration course and he has now completed his first semester. From all of us at AV, we wish Conerius the best of luck at University!
