Days 7- 13

COMMUNITY PROJECT

You will be driven inland to the villages surrounding Mount Kasigau, the largest lone-standing granite mountain in East Africa, rising out of the arid bush of the Taru Desert. Here you will spend six days, in groups of four to six, helping the colourful Taita tribal communities in one of the five villages at the base of this extraordinary mountain. Your work will be organised and directed by an old AV, who now runs his own charity (African Promise), and his team of builders.  You will help to construct and renovate village schools, play soccer with the village children, help in the classroom (if you want) or simply immerse yourself in the culture of these wonderful people, talking and laughing deep into the night. We reckon this valuable time will be the most rewarding of your whole African experience - the bit you will always remember first!

Days
