2476km done! - Africa and Asia Venture

2476km done! - Africa and Asia Venture

From 6 October to 19 December 2009, AV Dave Cornthwaite paddled (and walked) the gruelling 2476km of the Murray River, Australia's largest river, from source to sea. Congratulations to Dave on this massive achievement!Dave Cornthwaite end of Murray Expedition

Dave is on a mission to paddle for the AV Foundation, to put solar panels on the roofs of East African schools, as well as developing drinking water systems in the same communities. So far Dave has managed to raise nearly GB£3500 for this cause. If you would like to help please visit www.justgiving.com/greatbigpaddle.

On his Murray River Expedition, Dave was a witness to the current environmental and ecological impacts of Australia's water shortage on the river system. To learn more about the ups and downs of his challenge please visit www.thegreatbigpaddle.com.

This isn't the end of Dave's big adventure - he has planned a Stand Up Paddle Expedition from UK to Africa this year, as well as paddling the length of the Amazon River in 2011!
